Transient Labs November Newsletter

Miami Takeover

Hello Transient Family,

In November, we had an eventful month as we worked tirelessly to push the boundaries of art and technology. Our co-founder, Marco Peyfuss, & 0xG co-authored the 7160 standard, allowing for multi-metadata NFTs. Seneca's "Perils of Sese" is a unique non-linear storytelling experience that introduces this technology to the world.

In addition, we have launched two Transient Labs productions, including Alterego and Six Word Stories. We can’t wait to see you in Miami as we have organized some extraordinary experiences that we are thrilled to share with you, and we invite you to join us.

ERC7160: A Game-Changer in the NFT World

Revolutionizing NFTs with Multi-Metadata Functionality

The 7160 standard, co-authored by 0xG & Marco Peyfuss (co-founder of Transient Labs), represents a significant evolution in non-fungible tokens (NFT). This standard introduces multi-metadata functionality, considerably enhancing the capabilities of NFTs for a more interactive and enriching collector experience.

Key Features of 7160

  • Multiple Metadata URIs: Each NFT can link to numerous metadata URIs, allowing artists to create collections with diverse aspect ratios for each artwork.

  • Customizable Displays with Pinning: Collectors can ‘pin’ their favorite artwork version, empowering them to control their display experience.

  • Event-Driven Architecture: This approach signals platforms and apps to update displayed metadata, fostering an engaging, long-term relationship between the artwork and its collector.

  • Personalization for Collectors: Artists can add new files to the metadata array post-sale, offering personalized updates without removing existing assets.

  • Backward Compatibility: Designed to be compatible with existing ERC-721 contracts for easy adoption across NFT platforms.

The Art of Storytelling Changed Forever: Exploring Seneca’s ‘Perils of Sēsē’

Introduction to the Visionary World of Seneca

Renowned for her work with the Bored Ape Yacht Club, All Seeing Seneca has collaborated with Transient Labs to unveil a project called "Perils of Sēsē". This digital art venture marks a significant departure from her traditionally private approach, offering a glimpse into Seneca's deeply personal and imaginative realm. The project spans 2,880 individual story pages and blends the charm of traditional animation with the cutting-edge appeal of digital artistry, transcending typical art boundaries. Each piece in this extensive collection is a unique narrative segment, inviting viewers into a rich, non-linear tale.

Creative Journey and Technological Prowess

Seneca embarked on a creative journey to produce "Perils of Sēsē" that drew inspiration from various sources. The imaginative universes of Maurice Sendak, Mary Blair's vibrant color usage, and Dr. Seuss's whimsical storytelling all served as sources of inspiration. Seneca also incorporated elements from her personal collection of cel animation frames from iconic series such as "The Simpsons" and "Peanuts." Creating a compelling narrative where each artwork plays a key role in a broader, interconnected story.

This project is the first to use the ERC-7160 Token Standard, enhancing the NFT experience with dynamic metadata options. It also offers a unique digital ecosystem for community interaction, redefining the future of art and storytelling.

6 Word Stories: Unleashing Creativity in Collaboration

The 6 Word Stories project represents an exciting fusion of creativity and community engagement. This project invites artists and collectors to co-create, offering a unique storytelling experience. Each week, a different artist from our pool of 12 talented individuals sets a creative prompt, opening the door for collectors to respond with their own six-word stories. The heart of 6 Word Stories lies our "Story Inscriptions" contract feature, enabling artists and collectors to add narratives to their NFTs.

How It Works

  • Weekly Challenges: A new prompt is released every Monday, sparking the community's imagination. Collectors have until Thursday to mint and until Friday to submit their stories.

  • Winning Perks: The author of the winning story earns 10% of the week's mint revenue and gains on-chain collaboration credit. Their story becomes an integral part of the final artwork.

  • Artistic Interpretation: Artists have 1-2 weeks to create a piece inspired by the winning story. All minted editions are then updated to feature this new artwork, embedding the winning story permanently.
