Transient Labs May & June Newsletter

Oops—we were so busy in May and June that we forgot to send the newsletter. So here it is—in all its glory—for months 5 and 6 from your friends at Transient Labs.

As the digital object ecosystem continues its temporary detour into obscurity, we are building tools and products to bring the attention back to NFTs and the creators making incredible things. Below, we’ll highlight a few innovations and how creators use them to build the next wave of attention in this economy.

For the 1-minute inbox readers - here are the punchlines:

  • New Domain: Access our Launchpad at transient.xyz and The Lab at lab.transient.xyz.

  • Major Updates: Integrated T.R.A.C.E. with Launchpad, introduced the ERC-7160 Multi-Creation Contract, improved Collection Creation, and launched new Creator Profile Pages on Launchpad.

  • BASE Support: Deploy BASE contracts, mint BASE tokens, and set up Stacks Mint Pages.

  • Exciting Projects: Highlights include "Be More Based," NFC Lisbon, Gabe Weis’s "On Us," the Afrotopia exhibition, and many more.

The Lab Updates:

New Domain, Same Company

We acquired transient.xyz and are making moves to optimize it for creator accessibility and lead generation. You can now find the Launchpad at https://transient.xyz/ or by visiting The Lab at https://lab.transient.xyz. For creators, this new URL will likely be flagged on wallets like Rabby as “low popularity” until it accrues enough web traffic; as always, use official links shared through our official socials or the URL above.

Major Enhancements

  • Launchpad Integration with T.R.A.C.E.: Provenance and authenticated metadata for T.R.A.C.E tokens are now exclusively managed through Launchpad.

  • New ERC-7160 Multi-Creation Contract in The Lab: The Lab now supports the creation of ERC-7160 tokens with upgradable Artwork Creation layers. Additionally, we’ve created an ERC-7160 Launchpad dApp for collectors to interact with their ERC-7160 tokens easily.

  • Improved Collection Creation: Streamline your experience for creating new collections with our one-step Collection (contract) deployment in The Lab.

  • New Creator Pages on Launchpad: Discover profiles easily and track your unique creator activities through dedicated URLs. The updated "Recent Activity" column dynamically displays your actions, like new Collections and Story Inscriptions.

  • BASE Support in The Lab: Creators can now deploy BASE contracts, mint BASE tokens, and set up Stacks Mint Pages for BASE editions or 1/1s!

  • T.R.A.C.E is Coming Soon: Stay tuned for our T.R.A.C.E. online store launch. Sign up here to get notified.

Mobile and Media Improvements

  • Stacks Mint Page Mobile Optimization: We have enhanced the mobile interface for Stacks Mint Pages.

  • Social Image Enhancements: We’ve improved caching for better image display and detailed information sharing across social networks for all Launchpad and Stacks Mint page links. Whenever you share a Transient Launchpad link on social media, the preview will display a token preview, mint price, and/or creator profile information.

  • Custom Media Viewer Components: We've developed bespoke components and utilities to enhance the presentation of artworks, supporting images, videos, audio, HTML (iframe), and 3D files.

Projects & Collaborations

Be More Based: "Be More Based" was an event that celebrated memetic culture embedded onchain. It featured a limited-timed edition mint of 12 collectible pieces created by 12 diverse artists and builders, each bringing unique styles and humor to the collection. This 48-hour event was a collaboration with Base and Coinbase, highlighting the integration of Base, an ETH L2 favorite, for creators in The Lab. The featured creators for this event included Base Gulp, Luis Simo, 787, OSF, Dangiuz, Desultor, Waambat, UNFK, Oak, Shakkablood, Rebecca Roses, and 0xDesigner.

NFC Lisbon & Gabe Weis’s ‘On Us’: This year at the Non-Fungible Conference in Lisbon, Transient Labs was thrilled to support and empower creators with engaging activities and experiences that underscored our commitment to art and cutting-edge technology.

  • Gabe Weis's Art Experience: We had the privilege of hosting renowned artist Gabe Weis, who led an interactive art station. Collectors of his edition, "On Us," enjoyed the unique opportunity to collaborate directly with Gabe to create a custom 1/1 digital portrait of themselves at the Transient Labs Lounge.

  • Lab Artists Showcase: Our showcase featured over 45 talented artists from The Lab, displaying various mediums and styles, including AI, digital art, generative art, and 3D creations. Thank you to all our creators!

  • T.R.A.C.E Demos: Multiple live demos of T.R.A.C.E. (Tokenized Records for Artwork Certification and Evolution) were conducted daily, demonstrating our pioneering approach to securing the authenticity and provenance of physical art with the blockchain. Participants received a complimentary T.R.A.C.E. chip!

  • Main Stage Insights by David Feinstein: Our Business Development Lead, David Feinstein, took to the Main Stage on May 28th to discuss the future trajectory of NFTs & ADOs (Advanced Digital Objects).

Afrotopia: Inspired by Felwine Sarr's visionary work, it was a transformative exhibition in Abuja, Nigeria, showcasing 20 African artists who explored a future Africa through art. Curated by Itan World and The Countervail, the exhibition featured editions on Arbitrum via Stacks mint pages, showcasing the diverse skills of African artists and the capabilities of Web3 tools.

Disobedients: by Patrick Amadon: Patrick launched a multi-chain collection across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BTC, and Solana.

First Friday: Featuring releases from Bryan Brinkman, PIA & 6 open-call winners at Digital Dreams Gallery in Kansas City! "Sync" by P1A was a Velocity Edition on Base, where each mint shortened the 48-hour countdown by  2 minutes! Bryan Brinkman released “Battery Life,” which was Bryan's first mint on Base and was a dynamic piece.

The New West by Jeremy Booth: A Solo Exhibition curated by Pirovino & presented by Marfa Invitational. All 9 physical paintings have been augmented with T.R.A.C.E chips to certify and authenticate the works with the blockchain.

Oona’s “Private #”: Oona released Private #s, a series of 100 images from the private previews of Look Touch Own through a Stacks mint page. Each image tells a story from a participant in the performance. Together, the 100 images paint a picture of how we see breasts, beauty, consent, and ownership.

Javier Arrés’s “Mech City: Javier released the Mech Army collection on MakersPlace. All 9 unique prints were accompanied by T.R.A.C.E, a Digital Certificate of Authenticity for the physical prints. Collectors can now tap their phones with NFC and be redirected to the Digital Certificate of Authenticity for that piece with all the records and provenance.

Skeenee’s “Cyb0rgs: A collection of 5 AR-enhanced and animated paintings. All of these are accompanied by their own T.R.A.C.E chips, which serve as the digital certificate of authenticity for the physicals!
