Transient Labs January Newsletter

Hello Transient Family,

Welcome to 2024 at Transient Labs. January has set a strong pace with new project launches, strategic collaborations, and the first wave of this year's innovations. In this issue, we cover the standout moments of the month, introduce the latest enhancements from The Lab, and give you a preview of what's next. Let's get right into it!

🚀 Projects and Collaborations launched in January

Gabe Weis’s “Anti-Stoic Spectacle (ASS)”: Every Thursday at 2 pm ET, Gabe mints a 1/1 Anti-Stoic Spectacle for a 24-hour auction. Minted on The Lab by Transient Labs, sold on NiftyGateway.

Bunker’s “Perfume”: In this thought-provoking artwork, Bunker explores the concept of memory and its distortion when shaped by deceitful narratives. The central focus is an elegantly depicted woman whose essence is intricately interwoven with a tapestry of false recollections inscribed by lying lovers. Bunker captures the visage of the fabled Edgworth Bess, a known prostitute affiliated with the British underworld. Bunker’s depiction is marked by a poignant blend of strength and vulnerability as Bess’s identity is reshaped and re-imaged, giving her the truth the artist believes was stolen. Sold for 1.25ETH.

WalletConnect’s & Sovereign Nature Initiative’s “SoundWavesNFT Collection”: WalletConnect launched the Web3Inbox App. Celebrating this milestone, we've collaborated on the minting & distribution of the #SoundwavesNFT Collection. The #SoundwavesNFT Collection, designed by Artist Daria Smakhtina from @ephemera_one, transforms whale songs and clicks from the Caribbean into stunning 3D visual art. Each NFT reflects the unique communication patterns of these majestic creatures. #ARTonARB

0xdgb’s “Doors/Rooms”: Rooms by 0xdgb is a 1/1/x generative collection built on Transient Labs' ERC-7160 contract. At some point, all Doors will open, revealing 200 different Rooms randomly generated from hundreds of different items, traits, and attributes. ERC7160 are dynamic multi-metadata tokens, allowing for future artwork updates. This means some collectors may find new items in their rooms from time to time. What's behind your Door? “Space Grails”, in collaboration with Axiom Space3 & NiftyGateway: This collection features digital and physical works from 8 world-renowned web3 artists, each bringing their own unique style and passion for the unknown to the forefront of the art world. As part of the project, the participating artists have sent a unique physical piece into space aboard Axiom Space's Ax-3 mission, creating an unprecedented connection between human creativity and the cosmos. All digital works were minted via The Lab, and the physical works will be T.R.A.C.E.D upon returning to Earth from orbit. Participating artists include Amber Vittoria, Dave Krugman, Dr. Sian Proctor, Erick Calderon, Jack Kaido, Jordan Lyall, MUMBOT, & Richard Zheng. Two editions of Jack Kaido’s “Overview” are available for purchase.

“Frozen in Time”: A co-curated exhibition with Ninfa that invites you to experience the myriad interpretations of winter through the eyes of 13 talented artists from around the globe. Artists include Ballzerino, BoredJosei, Etkin, Geoffroy_de_crecy, Kacii Eleven, motsarts, nora_kartas, SIGMAX, Troy GuĂ©nard, terrelldom, WILLARD, yomi_dinero. The exhibition is live, and a few works remain available.

Photon Tide’s “Cells”: Photon Tide’s fascination with the universe, physics, and the wonders of light has led to the creation of 'CELLS,' a unique art project exploring human consciousness and emotions. There are a few parts to the project. The first is the CC0 remix challenge, which lasts until January 30th, 2024, when the 1/1 Cell will be available to bid on (0.1E reserve). The second part is a Limited Edition of 50 at 0.15E, built on the Collector’s Choice smart contract. The token includes a wide range of artworks and aspect ratios for collectors to choose from, and after Photon Tide's deadline, the collectors' selections are final.

Alimo’s “Japanuary”: A visual diary based on Alimo's winter snowboard trips out in Japan. It gives homage to the country and a portal into his experiences. Alimo released 6 Open Editions on NiftyGateway for 24 hours; each edition collected acted as an entry ticket to win 1 of 2 physical paintings augmented with T.R.A.C.E (Tokenized Records for Artwork Certification and Evolution). This means Alimo can inscribe photos, writings, sketches, and ownership into the dCOA attached to the physical.

Roger Dickerman’s “24 Hours of Art”:  The project consists of 366 tokens, each corresponding to a daily art report, developing into a unique piece of art that reflects the narrative of that day. 15/366 remain available for purchase.

🧪 The Lab’s January Product Updates & New Features

We're excited to bring several new updates this January at The Lab in our continuous effort to innovate and enhance the digital art creation experience. A major advancement is the introduction of Collection-Wide Story Inscriptions, allowing creators to weave a unified narrative across all tokens in a collection, significantly streamlining the storytelling process.

We've also integrated with @delegatedotxyz, offering collectors a seamless interaction with Story Inscriptions without connecting their vault wallets.

Regarding technical enhancements, we're proud to announce cheaper and faster contract deployments. By utilizing ERC-1167 minimal proxies, we enable permissionless and unstoppable contract deployments, instant Etherscan verification, and reduced dependency on Web2 infrastructure.

Another exciting development is our move towards On-Chain ASCII Art Customizations. This shift signifies our commitment to a decentralized future, as we now store unique ASCII art and contract customizations immutably on the blockchain, transitioning from Web2-based personalization.

Lastly, we're making a big move in our NFT metadata hosting by migrating to IPFS. While we continue to believe in the potential of Arweave, the transition to IPFS for all new NFTs will ensure greater accessibility and prepare us for future technological advancements. Any NFTs previously minted and hosted on Arweave will remain secure and safe.
